Euphorbia characias wulfenii (Mediterranean spurge)
The Mediterranean Spurge has fascinated me for a while as I never connected the flower bud to the fully open flowers. They dont look the same at all.
The flower buds have green just opening flowers with red hearts in the centre of the flower which I find amazing as the red hearts are perfect. The hearts are in pairs and go around the very small flower.
As the flower ages the bloom turns green and yellow. The red hearts are totally gone.
When the flowers are dying or need water all the flowers drop with the flower heads facing the ground.
The flower is now in the beginning of Summer and the flower head of the Mediterranean Spurge has turned the tones of yellow, pink and red. The flower head are displayed on the plant in a circular pattern all over the plant. Being this rich tones of reds and yellow the flower head of the Mediterranean Spurge glows in the sun.
